Miami Skyline Jet Ski Ride: Star Island, Venetian Islands and Downtown
Short answer: the classic Miami skyline jet ski ride runs south from the Miami Beach / North Bay Village area through the Venetian Islands (10–15 minutes), past Star Island's waterfront mansions (15–20 minutes) to the Downtown Miami skyline at the mouth of the Miami River (20–25 minutes), then back. With Jet Ski Miami 7 it is self-guided: you get the route, the briefing and GPS speed zones, and ride at your own pace. Plan 2 hours ($349, 2.5 hours on the water) for the islands and skyline, or 3 hours ($499) to add the Haulover sandbar.
The route
- Venetian Islands (10–15 min). Six residential islands linked by the Venetian Causeway bridges. Idle under the bridges (no-wake), then open up in the channels between them.
- Star Island, Palm Island, Hibiscus Island (15–20 min). The famous mansions face the bay; ride the perimeter at idle speed near the seawalls, faster in the open channel. This is the photo stretch.
- Government Cut and the port view. Cruise ships at PortMiami to your left, South Pointe and the Fisher Island ferry to your right. Stay out of the ship channel; the briefing covers the markers.
- Downtown skyline and the river mouth (20–25 min from base). The Brickell and Downtown towers rise straight out of the water here. The lower river is a slow zone with heavy traffic, so most riders stop at the mouth, take photos, and turn.
- Return along the Miami Beach side for a different view, or cut back through the islands.

Photo tips
- Morning light faces the Downtown towers; afternoon light faces Miami Beach.
- Use a waterproof phone pouch on a lanyard; a strap on sunglasses.
- The best skyline frame is from the water just south of the Venetian Causeway looking southwest.
- Groups: anchor side by side at idle in a calm pocket, not in a channel.
Rules on this route
- No-wake zones at every bridge, near Star Island seawalls and in the river: the jet ski slows automatically, you keep the heading.
- Ship channel: never cross in front of a moving ship or ferry; the briefing shows where you may cross.
- Manatee zones are marked; idle through them. Wildlife sightings happen but are never guaranteed.
- No alcohol for drivers. Life vests on. Back at base before the end of your slot; we close at 6:00 PM.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to jet ski to Downtown Miami from Miami Beach?
From our base in the Miami Beach / North Bay Village area the Downtown skyline is about 20–25 minutes of riding; Star Island is 15–20 minutes and the Venetian Islands 10–15 minutes.
Which package is best for the skyline ride?
3 hours ($499) covers Star Island, the Venetian Islands, the Downtown skyline and the Haulover sandbar in one ride. 1 hour is enough for the Venetian Islands loop only.
Can I see celebrity houses from a jet ski?
Yes. Star Island, Palm Island and Hibiscus Island are lined with waterfront mansions you ride past from the bay. Keep idle speed close to the shore and respect the no-wake buoys.
Can I ride into the Miami River?
The lower Miami River near Downtown is a no-wake zone with heavy boat traffic. We brief you on how far to go; most riders turn around at the river mouth with the skyline in front of them.
Is the ride guided?
No, every rental is self-guided. You get a briefing, a recommended route map and GPS speed zones, then ride at your own pace.
What time of day is best for skyline photos?
Morning light hits the Downtown towers from the east, and the bay is calmest before noon. Late-afternoon rides (we close at 6 PM) give warm light on Miami Beach instead.
